Goodbye 20s, Hello 30s!

Earlier this month, one of our very best friends turned 30! She is such a special friend who we thought deserved a special occasion. We invited Maggie's close friends, family and co-workers (from near and far!) to gather at The St. Regis Hotel in Atlanta to surprise her! We did it up adult-style with all the works: Bookie Macarons, Gigi's Cupcakes, champagne, wine and...Busch Light. No, we're not in denial about turning 30 this year!

All the decorations, even the invitation we designed was set around the colors black, gold and white! Check out Maggie's reaction below as well as our very own make-shift photobooth with props.

Thank you to Louie for capturing every moment of the night!

And if a party wasn't enough to create a memorable 30th birthday, we gathered birthday messages from everyone and gave her a DVD that will last a lifetime!

Before & After: Chevron Rug

Here is another DIY addition to our booth for Wedding Day Hooray. We stumbled upon this great tutorial by Hayley Anderson on how to make your own chevron rug for only $70, but we actually only spent $55! The rug is from IKEA for $40 and a half a gallon of paint was from Lowes for $12.

We had to channel our school days of math and perfectly measure out each stripe, each angle and each width. It took some time but it was all worth it!

This rug will definitely brighten up our booth and give a fresh look. All it takes is some fresh paint!

Before & After: Vintage Door Room Divider

These were such a good find we couldn't pass it up! For the past two weekends we have been antique shopping and just haven't found the right door for the right price until we went to a salvage sale in southeast Atlanta. It's all about digging around to find a good bargain and we definitely dug these up. Check out the transformation with just 3 doors, 4 hinges and a good cleaning.

Before & After: Chicken Wire Frames

Only three weeks left until the Wedding Day Hooray! We're pretty excited that our vision for our booth is coming together so quickly thanks to a lot of DIY projects and Salvage shopping.

After that scary Saturday morning of floods and hail, we also brought home some old doors (more to come on this project!) and empty frames. We wanted a way to showcase some of our invitations, so we thought some vintage frames and chicken wire will do the trick!

All you need is:

Wooden Frame
Chicken Wire (you can get at your local hardware store)
Staple Gun with Staples
Wire Cutters

Directions:

Unravel the chicken wire and cut the wire with your cutters to the same shape as the back of your frame. Once you are done, you are ready to start stapling. I had a hard time to get the staple flat to the frame. Some of them didn't go through all the way, so you have to really push down hard. After you staple the wire all the way around the frame, it's time to get those clothespins out and start displaying pictures, invitations, etc.

Happy DIY!

Paper Magnolias

Last night, we worked on decorations for our booth for the big Wedding Day Hooray event. Check out how we made Paper Magnolias from pages of old art and antique books from the 60's. We can't wait for you to see how it all comes together. With so many detailed projects to prepare, we have to squeeze in a little at a time to avoid getting overwhelmed!

Salvaging to Stage

This past weekend we went salvaging to find old antiqued treasures for our Wedding Day Hooray! Booth. After fighting the flash floods, hail and sideways rain in South Atlanta, we found some really interesting items to transform our presence for our debut. Please stay tuned, because this is just a glimpse of some of the things we found! Before and After photos, to come!
